Cupcake Charlie’s

This is a very, very, loooong over-due review… When you are having a fun by busy life, time just fly by!  So, while we were visiting Cape Cod during the Holiday time, we visited a cupcake shop in a shopping mall. I am always up for discovering cupcake shops!

They had cute open sign on the door with some glitter, and inside was bright and welcoming. Most of the space was taken up by the kitchen, ready to provide all sorts of cupcakes to eager customers.

And yes, they did have all kinds of cupcakes, from carrot cake cupcake, red velvet, lemon drop, and so many more. They also had some cookies and cookie sandwiches, decorated with Holiday cheers.

But, who knows, maybe you are not a cupcake person, and you are not really feeling the cookies either. Well, not to worry, they have Cake Cups if you prefer to have cake rather than cupcakes. Or, may be you want to skip all that sponge fluff, and just want to dig in to the frosting… Guess what, they have that too! They had Frosting Shots! My goodness, that is a lot of sugar… Enjoy responsibly!

Since we were there for cupcakes, we only got cupcakes. They had some seating area for those who want to have the sweets right there and then. Not that many seating, but you don’t really need that many at a cupcake shops, as they are more of take-home establishment.

We chose three flavors, Chocolate Mint Madness, Flavor of the Month, and Chocolate Raspberry Surprise ($3.25 each). They are all pretty good size, medium size cupcake with almost the same size frosting on the top with sparkling sprinkles.  The Chocolate Mint Madness had chocolate cake with mint frosting. It also had Andes Mints chocolate on it. The cupcake was really sweet, and with that much frosting, it was sugar over-rush. We were sharing among three people, which was great. I don’t think I could have eaten the entire thing by myself. The flavor of the chocolate and mint were nice, just way too sweet…

The Flavor of the Month was gingerbread, very appropriate for the Holiday season. It had very nice gingerbread flavor, and super cute gingerbread man on the frosting. It had small green sprinkles to finish off the look. Again, it had nice flavors, but way too sweet…

The Chocolate Raspberry Surprise was also pretty good when it came to flavor. Cute light pink frosting with pink sparkling sprinkles. I liked the two little chocolate sticks in the frosting. But, the end result was that once again, it was way too sweet.

Overall, I was happy to have discovered another cupcake spot, but their cupcakes with generous amount of frosting was too much for me. If they made it with less sweetness… I guess even my sweet teeth have a limit. I like the fact that they have so many different flavors of cupcakes, and few other sweets there as well. And, for as long you are sharing a cupcake among 3 or 4 people, you don’t get that crazy sugar rush, so it is all good…!
