My blog about the wonderful city of Portland, Oregon. This is the last spot we visited on our last day. It had a long, interesting name, Rimsky-Korsakoffee House. I heard it is one of the Portland’s oldest coffee house, and it was located kind of middle of nowhere I felt like, but we still managed to get there. It did have that historic look to it, which I liked, and when we arrived before their opening time, there were several people already waiting outside. At the entrance, they had several notes and sings, and the wait list where you can put down your name if the tables were full already. Also, I found a large water cooler for anyone who wants a glass of water.

Another thing I found at the entrance was this quirky doll up above with a sign, with every word starting with the letter “E” which was impressive on its own. LOL. According to this doll, you better have a good time here at Rimsky-Korsakoffee House, or else…

The inside was a nice size rooms, with one room bigger that the other. The larger room has the space for a live music/performance. It was kind of dimly lit, creating that magical atmosphere among their quirky decors. Yes, I said magical. It certainly had this unique yet cozy atmosphere.

Rimsky-Korsakoffee House is a coffee house that serves coffee, tea, and a few other non-coffee drinks. They also offer a variety of sweet treats. Although it is a coffee house, but they are only open in the evening. A great spot to stop by for a dessert and coffee after your dinner. We decided to go with one of their Loose Tea offerings, less caffeine at night to help us sleep well. All the tea selection was priced at $3.75, but you can add a cup (of the same tea) for only $1. So, naturally, we went with that. It came in an Asian-inspired pot, and non-matching cups. I thought that was so cute. I always like old mismatching plates and cups served at restaurants and eateries. As for the tea, I believe we ordered Ambiguity Herbal Tea, with passion and raspberry flavors, which was really nice.

The dessert of choice was Hot Fudge Brownie Sundae ($9). It was not as big as I thought it would be, but since it is so decadent and rich, sharing a small-ish portion at night was probably the best. It had ice cream, brownies, whipped cream, and hot fudge. A dessert lover’s dream.

Now, I have to talk about their bathroom. It is located on the upper floor, so you have to climb up some stairs to get there. Once you get there, you will see several doors, all looking the same. Each door has a little note attached to it, telling you which door is the right one. Well, more like which door is the wrong one. LOL.

The further down the hall you go, the sign on the door changes slightly, giving you a little chuckle along the way. At least it did make me chuckle.

Once you find the right door and open it, I tell you, you will freeze for a second. I mean, there is so much to take in from a bathroom all at once! And the mannequin in the kayak (?) on the floor scared me since that was the first thing I saw when I opened the door! LOL.

It is designed as if the bathroom is under water, with all sorts of fish, corals, turtles, a couple of jellyfish hanging from the ceiling… The part I liked the most was the legs in the “water” from above. How cool is that??? I say this bathroom is a must-see artwork, even if you don’t need to use the facility.

We had a nice evening dessert and tea here at Rimsky-Korsakoffee House. This quirky coffee spot is perfect for indulging some decadent dessert, a hidden gem for dessert lovers. A great spot to visit with your family and friends for a relaxing evening over sweets and coffee/tea. And definitely to check out their bathroom! And one thing to note, they are cash-only, so make sure to bring some cash with you.
