Brooklyn has so many new and interesting restaurants opening up everywhere, it is not easy to keep up. When we tried to go to one of the very popular restaurant, it had a very long wait… So, we decided to look up a different spot, and easily found several options nearby. The name of the restaurant is the address of the restaurant, makes it easy to find and to remember.

It was pretty packed too, and seemed rather small. They had a bar right at the entry, and very small amount of seating to the left. Most of them were table for two, or add extra chair to make it into table for three. We were concerned of the small table size, since there were three of us. Luckily for us, the group of three in front of us got the last table (for two) in this are. They actually have more seating in the back with bigger tables!

Between the front dining area and back room was their open kitchen. The kitchen didn’t look big enough, but then again, this restaurant is not huge, so for as long as the kitchen staffs are efficient, I am sure the size of the kitchen is just right.

The back room was very nice and cozy, quiet and relaxing. Well, until this room got filled up. It had comfy sofa that goes around against the wall, with small tales and chairs. They put two tables together for us so that we can sit comfortably. They had a large round table for a large group too. The decor was simple but warm and homey.

We ordered a few items since we were all hungry. We got a Special Pizza of the Day ($20), which was white pizza with mozzarella, parmesan, pepperoni, cabbage, basil, and red chili flakes. It had quite the punch from the chili flakes, good and spicy! Which was nicely balanced against the sweetness from cheese and the white sauce. Dough is very soft and doughy, tasty and high quality. Wish it had more basil… Overall, it was a super tasty pizza, I think it would be a great accompaniment to beer or alcoholic beverages. Pepperoni was nice and had salty flavor that pulled all the flavors together.

We also ordered a Market Fish ($30), which was Scottish trout, with red and yellow watermelon, corn, beet aioli, and togaraahi. The fish was very much like salmon. It had great mix of fish and sweet watermelon! Corn was plump and tasty too. Pumpkin seed added nutty flavor and extra texture. Beet aioli had nice natural sweetness to it, went perfectly with the fish.

The last item we ordered was Pork Chop New York ($27), with pate aioli, cilantro yogurt, crispy quinoa, pickled radish and carrot. The pork chops was nothing like I imagined, already cut up which was unusual from my experiences with pork chops. The meat was packed with flavor with perfect amount of seasoning. The meat was cooked just right, moist and tender. The pickled veggies brought out the sweetness of the meat against acidity. Great dish!

We decided to have some desserts with coffee to finish the dinner. We ordered Latte ($4) and it was brought to table with a side of brown sugar squares. The presentation of the sugar was cute, but I am not sure how people feel about it, since you never know who picked them up with their fingers out of the bowl… Latte was pretty good, strong and flavorful.

For dessert, we asked what the “Seasonal Cobbler” is, and we were told it is apple and pear. Sounds good! So we went with Apple and Pear Cobbler ($10) with butter streusel. It came out piping hot, rather small but since we were full, that was ok. It had some rosemary that added aroma and flavor which was quite pleasant. It was not too herb-y but just enough.

I was used to getting ice cream with cobbler in the past, and when the server mentioned it does NOT come with ice cream before we ordered the cobbler, we added order of ice cream as well. We chose Vanilla and Blueberry Olive Oil ice cream ($6/two scoop). The vanilla was super velvety and the blueberry olive oil was not overly blueberry but elegant and tasty. Unfortunately, the ice creams and cobbler did not come out at the same time. The ice cream came out first, and it took a while for the cobbler to come out. So about the time the cobbler finally reached our table, the ice creams were gone…

The bathroom is located between the open kitchen and the back dining room. It is tucked away to the side, two uni-sex bathroom with a cute sign that says “Push Me.”

The inside was clean and not too small but adequate size. Pretty deep green tiles on the walls to help you relax… I liked the color of the tiles, made me think of being in some rain forest somewhere.

The service was good and friendly. The sharing plates and silverware was changed to clean ones during our dinner without us asking for it, which was nice. We were taken care of nicely, felt welcomed in a relaxing atmosphere. It was a good find on the restaurant, with good food and service. The price point is rather high, though.
