Casa Alitalia Lounge @ JFK

When we traveled with JAL in the past, we used to go to Air France Lounge at JFK. However, it seems like JAL has changed its lounge partner to Casa Alitalia, almost right next to Air France Lounge. We never used Alitalia lounge before, so we were both curious and a bit worried… We were hoping that this lounge will be as good or better than Air France. Upon entering, it had a very different look than Air France. First of all, it was much, much smaller. Also, the ceiling was not as high, making the space looking a bit smaller. The furniture was kind of outdated and a bit old…still functional though.

They had a nice amount of seating, but it was not busy when we were there. I wonder what this place will look like during their peak hours. I did like looking at some of their black and white photos, reminiscing of the past. They also had what seems like a large private room, which can be used for a meeting? It didn’t really make sense in a lounge…

The food and drinks were tucked away behind a wall to the side, almost hiding from everyone. The space was not that large, and therefore, the selection was limited.

To the right side, they had some alcoholic beverages, coffee, and tea. Nothing fancy, just the basic selections. Still, I appreciate the offerings.

To the left side, they had some food selections. On the countertop, they had snacks and cup noodles. The noodles were larger than the ones at the Air France Lounge, more of a bowl than a cup.

Then, they had two large refrigerators containing many more drinks, mainly soda and water bottles. It also had quite good amount of sandwiches. Another think it had, which I loved, was individually wrapped cheeses! I loved those, especially the Babybel!

So, here are the items we got for our breakfast before the flight. Some snacks, water bottles, cappuccino, Martini & Rossi, and bowl noodle soup. And they were not so bad, especially considering they are all complimentary.

I do appreciate having the access to a lounge, especially if you are about to get on a long flight. A little R&R at a comfortable seat with complimentary food and drinks is so much better than waiting at a gate… I must say, this lounge didn’t become my favorite lounge, but still, I would use it again without a heartbeat. Again, much better option than the gate!
