Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ 2019

We visited this restaurant in 2017, and had an amazing experience. So, when we were traveling back to Orlando, we just had to go back! It was still beautiful, bright, and welcoming as it was when we first visited. With a nice big glass of iced water with a side of lemon (without asking for it), we were ready to get ourselves stuffed with their warm Southern hospitality and delicious food.

As we looked at their enticing, drool-worthy menu, we were starting to feel like ordering what we had before… We wanted to taste those amazing dishes again, but at the same time, we wanted to try something new. We consulted with our friendly server, Tim, and he gave us some great pointers. One of this favorite items is The Country Club ($18), with a twist. Normally, it comes with grilled chicken topped with white cheddar, pecan-smoked bacon, red jalapeño jelly, lettuce and tomato on a brioche bun. But, if you know how amazing their fried chicken is, and you really want it, then you can requested them to change it from grilled chicken to fried chicken! What!!!

When it came out, my hubby said the sandwich is as big as my head! LOL! So juicy and moist, fantastic! The sauce was amazing too, deep and earthy, warm and inviting. Every bite was joyful, and yes, very filling!

Chips were so addicting! It had substantial crunchy bite! Perfect side-kick to the amazing sandwich.

Another item our server Tim recommended was Shrimp & Grits ($26). Now, first of all, I was thinking “really? Grits???” and second, I was thinking “$26 for grits?????” But we trusted our server, and decided to try it out. It is made with Pan-seared shrimp with tomato gravy and Tasso ham served over creamy Bradley’s grits.

I tell you what, if you never had grits before, this should NOT be the first grits you will try in your life. Why? Because after tasting this one, you can not have any other grits out there… It will ruin you. But, if you have had your share of grits in your life, PLEASE try this, it will change your life! It will at least change the way you think of boring little grits… This one is as though the regular young grits went on to training in the mountain, and became a Jedi grits! You will feel the force after one bite… Shrimp is big and plump, with great big flavor! Just a little kick to it that was perfect. Simply delicious and completely awesome!!! Grits had nice milky-ness to it, goes down like liquid gold… It had a bit of sweetness to it, combined with the perfect spicy-ness to balance it out. Was it worth the $26? Totally!!!

I am very happy to say, the second visit was as great as the first visit. We were full, happy, and well taken care of. Our server, Tim was great. Thank you for your super awesome recommendations, I am happy we trusted him!

They feed you so well, you are completely stuffed! That means, unfortunately, we again left without trying out their desserts… I would so love to try their dessert one day… We will be back for sure when we return to Orlando in the future!
