Michelbob’s Championship Ribs & Steaks

During our visit to Marco Island in the late autumn, we got to try some tasty BBQ from Michelbob’s. Their Marco Island location is take-out only, while the Naples location is the original location, where you can dine in. The take-out only spot was really fun with loads of interesting memorabilia on the wall.

It seemed like a super popular spot, as the phone was ringing off the hook the entire time we were there. With that, we couldn’t get through the phone to pre-order, as many other customers trying to place orders on the phone. We just drove over to placed an order with the friendly lady managing the counter.

We ordered The Feast ($59.99), that comes with Baby Back Ribs (1.5 racks), 1/2 BBQ Chicken, Smoked Pulled Pork, Two Baked Potatoes, Two Corn on Cob, Baked Beans (pint), Cole Slaw (pint), and Two Garlic Toasts. The Feast comes with a bottle of Michelbob’s BBQ Sauce. We added Potato Salad ($7.99/quart), Smoked Sausages ($6/2pcs), Chicken Breast ($6/2pcs), and extra Garlic Toast ($1.50/3pcs). Oh yes, we were ready for the feast for sure!

The amount we received was much more than we expected. We were gonna eat well for two days…

They offer made-from-scratch original recipe dishes, and their signature dish is Barbeque Baby Back Ribs that they import from Denmark. You might not think BBQ and Denmark go together, I certainly did not make the connection. But let me tell you, it gets even more interesting… Their ribs come from specially-grown hogs that are tulip fed, in Denmark. Yes, you read that right, TULIP fed!!! It was fall-off-the-bones good, and finger-licking delicious. The sausage was super plump with a bit of heat to it, which I loved.

Chickens were great too, although felt a bit dry. The barbeque sauce was nice, although I loved the tangy flavor so much that I added a bit more on top. That also helped with the dryness of the meat.

The garlic toast was interesting, I don’t remember if I ever had garlic “toast” instead of regular garlic bread? It was buttery and toasted just right! The potatoes and corns were cooked well, very filling on top of everything that we ordered.

Potato salad and pulled pork came in the quart-size containers, packed and heavy! The potato salad had the homemade taste to it, and pulled pork wad very tender and juicy!

Cole slow and beans came in the pint-size container, and with its rich, strong flavor, it was the right amount in my opinion. The cole slaw added the fresh flavor, almost like a pallet cleanser from all the decadent meat dishes.

You can see the mouthwatering plate full of all the dishes from Michelbob’s. My favorite was the tender, slow-smoked, mouth-watering barbeque baby back ribs. And their name, which contains “Championship” has a meaning to it too. I am sure you can imagine, with this special tulip fed ribs, they have won championship trophies and awards over the years.

I am happy I got to try such rare and special ribs. I would love to try more delicious dishes from Michelbob’s again! If you are looking for meaty feast in Marco Island or Naples area, you know where to go!
