Beach Road Restaurant

During our trip to Martha’s Vineyard last fall, we visited Beach Road Restaurant on, well, you guessed it, Beach Road. We arrived shortly before they opened for dinner, and there were more than a handful of people waiting outside. The area by the entrance was cozy and welcoming with homey décor.

But then, the main dining room is massive and quite impressive! It had large chandeliers hanging from high ceiling, and loads of natural light coming through the floor-to-ceiling windows. We didn’t make a reservation, but we were able to get counter seats before it filled up.

But before moving on, let me talk about the massive windows. The great thing about those windows, on top of bringing in loads of natural light, is the view. It offered a beautiful scenery of greens and water. So amazing!

Since we were seated at the bar counter, our backs were facing the window. But, they had a large mirror on the top, offering us the same beautiful view from the window, which was pretty darn great. Also, the uniformed, elegant beer tap handles that look like oars, spelling out “Beach Road” was a nice touch too.

We started our dinner with some cocktails. I ordered Sangria ($12) and my hubby ordered Gentleman’s Agreement ($13). Some other cocktails had interesting names too, such as Grapefruit Thief and Twelve Moons.

Sangria is made with Cucumber Melon Mint Basil infused White Rum, Vinho Verde, and Ginger. It didn’t look like Sangria, it had no fruit, and not fruity at all. With that, it was not sweet. Without the sweetness, it was refreshing on a hot summer day. However, at the end, I wouldn’t call it a Sangria. Gentleman’s Agreement is made with Gin, Matcha, Lemon, Honey, and Sparkling Yuzu. This cocktail was inventive and creative. I liked it much more than the Sangria. Nice combination of bitter flavor from the matcha and sweet, fruity.

For appetizer, we were planning to order just some oysters, but when everyone around us seem to be getting this glorious looking bread, we had to have it too. Brioche Bread ($10) with Chive Butter. It was impressive just to look at, beautifully baked to golden color, with soft, fluffy, cloud-like inside. The chive butter was great too. It had some sea salt on top, which made it extra flavorful. It was not hot, so I assume they bake them beforehand, as they go quick with everyone ordering, and I totally understand the popularity of it. After just one bite, you will also fall in love with this loaf…

We did get some Oysters ($18). Half dozen comes in an order, three different kinds. I believe they were Cottage City, Honeysuckle, and Spearpoint Oysters. They were served with jalapeño cucumber mignonette, classic cocktail, horseradish, and lemon. And this is where their thoughtfulness truly shined. They removed the seeds from lemon before serving it! This small consideration might go unnoticed, but I saw it immediately, and greatly appreciated it! The oysters were fresh, not fishy, and delicious!

For main, I chose Lobster Linguini ($42), which is made with English Peas, Cherry Tomatoes, Corn, and Basil Arugula Pistou. It looked beautiful, and piled high on the plate! I was so excited for this, and the inviting aroma of the dish was so amazing.

First few bites were sinful and delightful, but then it became a bit too salty for me. The flavor of the dish was great though, if it were just slightly less salty, it would have been perfect. Speaking of perfect, the pasta was cooked perfectly. It came with a nice amount of plump chunks of lobster meat. Loved the corn and peas in here, adding extra flavor and texture. The portion was generous, and it was super filling.

My hubby chose Halibut ($40), made with Roasted Eggplant Purée, Heirloom Tomato Coulis, Grilled Little Gem, and Peppercorn Medley. Again, the presentation was very nice, inviting and enticing.

Halibut was so good! Perfectly crunchy on top, with flaky and moist fillet, delicious! Gem lettuce was charred perfectly. Eggplant purée was great too. This dish had the perfect amount of seasoning, with all the flavors coming through.

The bathroom is located near the entrance, at the back of the first small dining area. They had two (or three?) gender-neutral bathrooms.

The bathroom I used was spacious, well lit. I liked the mix of modern and antique-feel décor in there. Clean and well maintained. The artworks were aligned with their name, Beach Road Restaurant.

We had a lovely dinner there, with tasty drinks and food. Since we sat at the bar, our bartender was our server. She was nice, friendly and courteous. After the dinner, we went around the back and took a little walk while enjoying the view. I can see the reason why they are popular, with the view, atmosphere, service, and the food. We were so full, we didn’t have any room for dessert. But if we need some sugar rush, we know where to get some tasty ice cream…from Delicious MV Bakery! If you are looking for a pleasant dinner experience, head over to Beach Road Restaurant. And I definitely recommend the Brioche, it is to die for!
