Stone Bridge Pizza & Salad

WE went to an event at a pizza eatery, just when I was having cravings for pizza. Perfect timing! This place opened up little over a year ago. There are infinite numbers of pizzeria in NYC, so they gotta bring some kind of special kind of pizza to stand out of the crowd… I was excited to try some of their pizza!

The décor at the entrance was really cute and lovely, cozy and welcoming. Had nice plushy sofa for…well, not sure. Maybe for people who are waiting for carry out orders? But the kitchen is all the way in the back, so it wouldn’t make sense. Maybe for when the restaurant gets full, waiting for tables. It is a nice seating area.

The inside is quite large, especially thinking of them as pizzeria. Long and narrow, that opens up a little more in the back. It had a good amount of seating, with funky green chairs. The interior was fun and cozy with decorative tiles and wood furniture and ceiling. The lighting fixture was simple and modern. Very comfortable atmosphere.

The kitchen is all the way to the back, and that is where you place your order. You can see the pizza masters creating your delicious pizza, right in front of you. The register to pay for your food is to the left of the kitchen. It has a nice flow to it.

They have a pretty nice selection of beverages. With liquor license, they offer beer, wine and cider. Pizza and wine? Sweet! I liked their collections of tasty drinks, there is a drink for everyone there.

If you are not into alcoholic beverage, they have Boylan Bottling soda machine as well. Fancy! For this event, they had some wines ready for us. I am not sure if I ever had wine with pizza before… Those two really don’t match, do they? Well, guess again, because they sooooo do! If you think about it, pizza came from Italy, and lots of wines come from Italy. Yup, totally makes sense.

And if you are wondering which kind of pizza would pair well with which kind of drink? Oh they had it all done!!! Which pizza would go nicely with which alcoholic beverage was described in this cute drawing. And it had both wine and beer, since not everyone is wine lover. It was so cool!

The owner came out and explained the background of this business and passion. He strongly believes in good, tasty, healthy food. Most of us thing of “healthy food” as something that is not so tasty, or something that is too expensive. Here, they offer healthy food that is both tasty and affordable. How do they do it? They make their food with  wholesome, all natural and ultra-fresh ingredients.

They offer farm-to-table artisanal pizzas and salads made with high quality ingredients. How? They have their own farm!!! They are really serious about the quality of their ingredients. They are farm fresh, locally sourced, all-natural food.  Whatever they don’t grow, they get them from local suppliers with all-natural products.

Their pizzas are baked in a real wood stone pizza oven. That means, the pizza pies needs to be rotated in the oven in order to baked perfectly throughout. This requires serious skill, and it certainly was impressive watching a pizza baking master rotating them in the oven effortlessly.

Ok, enough about their ingredients and how they bake their pizza. What about how they taste? Let’s put that to the test. The first pizza we got was White Pizza ($11.95), made with pecorino béchamel white sauce, mozzarella, caramelized onions, bacon, arugula, and a drizzle of truffle oil.

It had a great aroma of truffle oil which was awesome. I could taste the high quality, fresh ingredients. The bacon was more like shredded, thinly sliced prosciutto. It was super tasty and I totally amazing! The crust was really delicious, thin and flavorful. They don’t use any “quick-fix” with their dough, but actually takes long time, a couple of days or longer, for them to be fermented naturally. By doing so, they don’t need to add any sugar.

The next one was Farmer’s Harvest ($10.95). It is made with pesto sauce, fresh mozzarella, roasted red & yellow peppers, button mushrooms, herb roasted eggplant and beet greens.

It had loads of veggies, again, with fresh and high quality ingredients. You can order this one without the mozzarella if you don’t want any cheese on it. To me, it was great just the way it was baked. This is definitely for veggie lovers.

After tasting two of their pizza pies, I was already feeling like the Blue baboon, holding a slice of pizza instead of the future lion king… As their t-shirt says, it certainly is “steamy hot triangle”…LOL!

Next, we tried The Four Seasons ($11.95). It is made with pecorino béchamel white sauce, EVOO with garlic & herbs, fresh mozzarella, herb roasted all-natural chicken, sliced plum tomatoes, mushroom and yellow peppers. We chose this one because we liked the White Pizza a lot, which also had pecorino béchamel white sauce. This one felt a bit heavier, maybe this one has more béchamel sauce? Chicken bits were plump and juicy, baked all the way around perfectly like all the others.

For our last one, we decided to personalize their Specialty pizza a bit. We picked Meat Lover ($11.95) which is usually made with fresh tomato sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, sweet Italian sausage, bacon and onions. Since my hubby loved their white sauce so much, we got them to which the sauce to pecorino béchamel white sauce. Also, we asked for truffle oil drizzle on top. I think the personalization has costed additional dollar or two.

I am not sure how the regular Meat Lover would have tasted with the regular tomato sauce. I realized afterwards that we didn’t have a pizza with their tomato sauce on it… Anyways, this one was pretty good, but didn’t have much meat as I expected. They were making crazy amount of pizza pies for the event, so maybe it didn’t get as much attention as it usually receives… The flavor itself was really, really good.

At the end, yes, we loved their pizza! They tasted really good, delicious, especially thinking that they are made with healthy ingredients. All-natural, local, and sustainable ingredients with no additives. We got to talk a bit with the Owner, Enrique, and we could really see and hear how passionate he is about providing good, healthy food. Sustainability is really important to him, so all the supplies they have at the restaurant is compostable as well. So, do they stand out in thousands of pizzeria in NYC? I believe they do! I would definitely go back for more of their tasty, high quality, and healthier pizza!
