Mighty-O Donuts

One thing I found while visiting Seattle was that they had countless option for places to get sweet delights. We wanted to visit them all, but we didn’t have the time… One of the places that we got to visit was Mighty-O Donuts. Until we got there, I didn’t know that it was just one of handful of locations.

This spot was located on the corner lot, and with lots of large windows, the inside was nice and bright. The interior was modern and clean, kind of industrial. They keep it simple in here, not much color or fancy décor, but just the basic, casual items you need without glamour.

They had super high ceiling, and I mean super high! With that, the space felt so much bigger than it actually was. They had a few table seating at the front, and then counter seating all the way to the back. When you have a narrow space, counter space is the best way to keep the floor open. I liked the cool, simple and sleek lighting fixtures.

They had all the goodies at the counter to the left. They also had their cold beverage offerings right next to the donuts. All the donuts were placed in a neat, organized way. They had pretty good selection of donut flavors, it was not going to be easy choosing which one to try…

We wanted to taste them all, but we know we had our limits… We figured we will get maybe two regular sized ones. But then, I came up with the brilliant idea! We can get mini-donuts so that we can taste more than two flavors! Unfortunately to me, they only had three mini-donut flavors… Well, we got them all plus one regular sized donut.

Their donuts are made with no chemicals, no GMOs, and no animal products. Yes, they are organic vegan donuts!

The first one was Cinnamon Sugar ($0.90). It was made with vanilla cake donut. Cinnamon Sugar donut is one of their most popular donuts, so I was happy we got this one. It was fluffy, plump and doughy, a perfect little dessert. The cinnamon flavor was not very strong, but it was still tasty. The next one was the Glazed Baby-O’s ($1.00). The  glaze here are made from scratch, using organic ingredients as well. It was a good, classic donut in my opinion. Sweet, comforting, little round of joy.

Then, we went with something more bold flavor. We got the seasonal one, which was Blueberry Monster ($1.00). It was pretty darn good, the batter was blue-ish with real blueberries incorporated in the dough. The glaze was nice too, with bits of blueberry in it. Really flavorful and great little treat for blueberry lover.

For the regular sized one, we chose Chocolate Raspberry ($2.50). This one is made with chocolate cake donut, drizzled with a generous amount of raspberry glaze. It was quite tasty, and just like the blueberry one, you can really taste the raspberry in the glaze. The chocolate cake donut was really nice too, not overly chocolate-y, but had a nice, warm flavor to it.

All the condiments for coffee/tea was neatly placed on a counter by the window, towards the back. They also had complimentary water here, which is always appreciated. And then, I found some extra items for customers all the way to the back. They had newspapers, magazine, books, and some games for kids and adults alike. How fun!

Their fun spirit was everywhere. They had some strange yet cute artworks of their donuts on the wall. Seems like their donuts are very adventurous and athletic. They are not just fun spirited, but also sustainably minded. They don’t throw away any donuts, but donate them. They don’t contribute to excess trash, but compost all food waste. They do contribute a lot to non-profit organizations, which is great!

They had a bathroom in the back, spacious, clean and bright.

I am glad we got to try their vegan donuts. They were tasty with rich flavor, and comforting. And yes, much healthier than regular donuts, as they are organic and vegan. It makes you smile to have a little sweet delight that taste so good! And knowing that you are buying products from a store that does so much for the public by donation and support, it makes it extra special.
