Beebe’s Ice Cream

When you are in a hot, humid weather, the best thing to have is…ice cream! We went to Beebe’s on one evening around 8pm, and it was quite busy. I guess everyone had the same idea… It is located at a busy mall with many restaurants, some stores and a movie theater.

When we went back around 2pm on another day, it was the complete opposite, it was nice and quiet… Less than handful of people came and left with their sweet goodness.

They had several counter seats that I didn’t even notice during the first visit, since it was so crowded. On the second visit, we were able to sit inside, avoiding the afternoon heat.

They had lots of flavors, but kind of strange how it is set up. There are three ice cream fridge all holding many different flavors. One right in front of the entrance door, another one to the right of it, and the third one to the left around the corner. With that, you have to walk all over the store in order to see all the options, and therefore, line of people get lost once you enter. Then, whoever made a decision on what they want will call out to the staff and make their orders. Not very efficient when it is really crowded, but maybe it is better if you are behind someone who takes way too long of a time to decide?

On the first visit, we got Raspberry Truffle in a cup ($4.50/single scoop) and Pistachio in a cup ($4.50/single scoop). Single scoop was REALLY large! Super generous amount gets packed into the cup. You might want to think twice before ordering more than one scoop. Raspberry Truffle was made with raspberry ice cream, raspberry ribbon, and dark chocolate raspberry cups. It was good, velvety with chunks of small chocolate truffles. Raspberry flavor was nice too, not too overwhelming. Pistachio had chunks of real pistachio nuts in it, very flavorful and tasty!

On our second visit, we decided to get different flavors, but in a waffle cone. Why? Because they had $10 minimum with credit card, and we had no cash… So, we got Mint Chip in waffle cone ($5.50/single scoop). I don’t understand how this HUGE scoop can be called “single scoop” but we were super happy! It had nice minty flavor with large chunks of chocolate chips, it was great!

I wanted something unique, but then, after looking at all the flavors, I went back to the classic – Cookies ‘n Cream in waffle cone ($5.50/single scoop). My goodness it was great! Nothing like a mountain of cookies ‘n cream ice cream… It was so good! Waffle cone was crunchy and yet had just the right amount of softness to it, strong enough to hold the huge scoop, and quite tasty.

The staffs here were efficient and friendly, and the price was great for the amount you receive here. With its convenient location and great amount of flavor offerings, it sure was a perfect spot to go get some afternoon snack.
