Frutero Ice Cream

it is really hot and humid out there… This summer is going to be a hot one! What can we do to keep ourselves cool in a delicious way? Have some yummy ice cream! I have a few favorite ice cream places: Tipsy Scoop, Shug’s Soda Fountain, and Ample Hills Creamery, just to name a few… I am sure there are people out there who are looking for a high quality, fresh, and healthier ice cream. I recently discovered Frutero Ice Cream, made with 100% real fruits, and thus they contain no artificial flavors, preservatives, or colors. They use fruits from fruit farms, and local dairy from Pennsylvania, as Frutero Ice Cream are based in Pennsylvania.

First of all, I love the package! They are so vibrant and fun, calling my name to try their yummy goodness… Currently, Frutero Ice Cream is only available in Northeast, but they are expanding, and you can order online also! Their history is interesting. It was founded by two brilliant food lovers, Vedant Saboo and Mike Weber, Wharton graduate students. They met at school, and when Mike traveled to India, where Vedant grew up, Mike discovered amazing tropical fruit flavored ice cream through Vedant. After the trip, they decided to create their own tropical fruit ice cream in the US. You never know what opportunity/idea one trip can offer!

Frutero mean Fruit Vendor in Spanish, and Frutero does source their fruit from fruit farms from Colombia and Thailand. Nice! Their ice cream is inspired by Indian, Southeast Asian, and Latin American fruits. I say they have majority of “tropical” area covered… I got to try their five flavors: Guava, Mango, Passion Fruit, Guanabana, and Coconut.

Their Mango Cream is made with ripe mangoes, freshly grown by farmers in Magdalena, Colombia. It is packed with 1/2 of a mango inside this 8 oz. cup! And if you have seen a real mango, you know that is quite a lot to be put inside this small package…and with that, it has a big flavor! I already love mango, so I was excited to try this one. After just one bite, I was almost surprised how creamy it was! And yes, with every bite, I could taste the fresh mango… The quality you can really taste!

Coconut Ice Cream is made from Thailand’s best coconuts. This one is packed with 1/3 of a whole coconut! And with that, yes, it is an explosion of fresh coconut flavor! I am not a huge coconut fan, so for me to like something made with coconut, it really has to be great. And these guys know what they are doing for sure! It tasted really fresh, sweet but not sugary, amazing coconut flavor! It could turn me into a coconut lover…

For their Passion Fruit Ice Cream, they use the best Passion Fruit variety called “Maracuya”, grown in Colombia. It isย packed with 2 passion fruits inside this one! It was really nice with tart flavor, different from other flavors. I thought it makes it a bit more refreshing, perfect on a hot summer day (or any day, really). And I do really loved the fact that none of them have “fake” colors or flavor, all natural. I really enjoyed it!

Guava Ice Cream is made from fresh Colombian Guayaba, which is a pink guava. It is packed with 2 guavas inside this 8 oz. package! You can imagine how good of a guava flavor this ice cream has with that. It tasted so tropical, it can instantly travel your mind and taste buds to a paradise with deep blue water, luscious greens, and wild birds flying under the Sun…

Last but not least, Guanabana Ice Cream! I must confess, I have never heard of guanabana before, so I assumed it was ice cream made with guava and banana… I know, I need to travel more! It is packed with 45 grams of guanabana, also called Soursop. Since I never heard of this fruit, I also never tasted it before. I was excited to try a new ice cream flavor! Some say the flavor of guanabana is a mix of strawberries and apple, or strawberries and pineapple, with sour citrus flavor. I agree them all, what an interesting mix of flavors! But the texture was even more fascinating. It was almost like the creamy texture of mashed banana! So, I guess I wasn’t far off with my original thought??? No? Well, I tried… The sour flavor is not that strong, but it does give a nice contrast and balance of flavor against the sweetness.

After trying them all, I absolutely loved them all! Each and every one had its strong and unique flavor that came through. The freshness and quality you could really taste, without any interfering from artificial flavors. If you are looking for a tropical fruit ice cream with amazing flavor, try Frutero Ice Cream!

  2. This stuff is SO good that I actually emailed them and told them off! (jokingly).

I bought a 1 pint container of the passion fruit and although it was NOT my plan, it was SO DELICIOUS that I ate the ENTIRE thing in one sitting!

It is OUTSTANDING, and if you go to their site & sign up for emails, you can get a coupon for $2.00 off (expires 12/31/21).

I am NOT an “ice cream person”, so the fact that it has become my “guilty pleasure” says a lot.

      1. Today I was at supermarket and I saw a bogo deal for this brand. I WAS EXCITED TO SEE the GUAVA, PASSION FRUIT, COCONUT, AND MANGO. MY โค๏ธ AND MY MIND WENT BACK AND FORTH TO PONCE, PUERTO RICO. WHERE IS A ICE CREAM PLACE THAT MY FATHER Brought ME , ALMOST EVERY FRIDAY. I GRABBED AND I LOVE THE NAME , PACKAGE AND THE INGREDIENTS. THE CASHIER WAS “WOW! THIS SOUND DELICIOUS “. I TOLD HER I WAS going to hide it from my HUSBAND. ๐Ÿ˜… BUT I DID SHARE WITH HIM. OH!!! LORD THIS is DELICIOUS. I WILL ASK MY SUPERMARKET TO BRING THE GUANABANA FLAVOR AS WELL. I WILL USED ALL MY FOOD STAMPS FOR THIS BRAND. CONGRATULATIONS GUYS FOR AN EXCELLENT JOB.

        1. Hello Janice,

It is great you liked their ice cream flavors. They are really tasty! I wish if they have BOGO deal around here too…

  3. Well, I DID get an email back from one of the owners of the company telling me he got a big laugh out of my message and that he loved it and thnaking me for letting him know how much I enjoyed it.

I always make it a point when I like something, or whenI have a positivie customer service experience to leave positive feedback. My feeling is that everyone always takes the time to complain, but no one ever takes the time to say thank you or give a “kudos shout out”. It take no more time than it does to complain, but positive feedback can really make the difference.

    1. Hi Angel,

I completely agree! Your message must’ve been such a delight to the owners!
To know that they made one customer happy like that, I am sure it made their day! Wouldn’t it be great if everyone could take the time to send out the kudos shout out to the companies/shops/restaurants and all the other people out there who made us smile, happy, and thankful? Well, thank YOU for doing that!

      Have a great day ๐Ÿ™‚
