Hill Country Chicken #2

This is my second review of Hill Country Chicken (you can read my first review at: http://www.foodlovergirl.com/hill-country-chicken/).

The last time I visited, I was so full that I didn’t have any room left in my tummy to try their awesome looking desserts. And since we absolutely loved their chicken and waffles, we wanted more of it too.  We went there on bit more busy time, most of the seats were taken, but the turnover is quick enough, we managed to get ourselves some seats within few minutes.

The first thing I did was to go check out the desserts. There were so many great looking pies to choose from, I seriously wanted to order every single one of them! But of course I didn’t… I remembered how filling their chicken and waffles are, so I had to choose one. ONE!

So, we got in line to order the food and dessert. We again ordered their delicious Chicken & Waffles ($10), and one Banana Cream Pie ($4.25).  The Chicken & Waffles were as good as I remembered; skinless chicken was crunchy on the outside and very juicy inside, packed with flavor, and the waffle was soft, moist, and sweet. Such a perfect comfort food! Mama Els’ Chicken with crushed crackers instead of skin is really amazing!

And then the pie. I was so excited for this pie, and it was a nice size, not too big, not too small. From the first bite, it was magical. The crust was really nice, and it had generous amount of banana cream, topped with whipped cream. We were in banana pie heaven. I am assuming the whipped cream is home-made, since I could see vanilla bean in them. It was so creamy, rich, melt in your mouth good. So, knowing how good their banana cream pie is, I have to go back again to try some other pies that they have…

The service was the same as before, not-so-friendly or kind staff behind the counter, but the other staff who brings the food to your table were really nice and helpful. I didn’t even get a spoon for my pie from the people behind the counter… I had to go find someone who would find one. So, the service level is still not great, but the food, oh my goodness they are amazing!
