‘Ohana

One of the dining spot I kept hearing about was ‘Ohana. So many people said it was the best dining experience they’ve had in Walt Disney World Resorts. I found out that they do a Character Breakfast there, so I made a reservation for one morning. We hopped on to our complimentary boat ride that takes us to other Wald Disney World Resorts. We haven’t really used the boat, so it was quite fun, although it was chilly that morning.

‘Ohana is located inside the Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. We got off the boat, and started to walk towards the big building in the back. This resort looked really cool, with that fun “Polynesian Village” feel to it everywhere.

Once we entered the building, we were wowed by their grand lobby. It looked vibrant, bright, and very pretty! But then, we had not a clue where to go… I thought finding a large restaurant would be easy… We asked one of the staffs there, and she gave a detailed instruction with a smile.

It was located upstairs, and from there, you can really see and appreciate the beauty down below. And, there was Pluto greeting all the guests and singing their book! We headed to the hostess station, and they told us to go to the lounge, which was between the hostess station and the restaurant, and wait for a few minutes until someone will come and get us.

A staff called us within a few minutes, and we were handed off to another staff, Paul, who was super nice! He took us to our table, and along the way, he asked us if we knew the meaning of ‘Ohana. He told us that ‘Ohana means “family.” How lovely!

Before we got to our table, we passed by their kitchen. They had loads of their famous bread lined up on a counter! I wanted to take a few plates, but I resisted… I told Paul I was so excited about the bread, and he said that his cousin made them. I soon learn that at ‘Ohana, everyone is “cousin” to everyone else. How sweet is that? They are one big family!

We were seated to the side, a bit tucked away from the main dining space. It was more quiet here, which we liked. The walls were covered with large windows that goes from floor to ceiling, bringing in lots of natural light.

From our table, we could see the Magic Kingdom a little bit, and the Cinderella Castle! Pretty darn cool! I heard you can see the fireworks from here at night as well.

Once we were settled, we received the fabulous bread. It is a Freshly made Pineapple-Coconut Breakfast Bread, and everyone raves about it… And after one bite, I saw a rainbow coming out from the bread. It was DELICIOUS!!!! So amazingly great, with bits of pineapples in it! What! It was super fluffy like a cloud made of sugar and everything nice. Such a delight!

So, the breakfast is called “All-You-Care-to-Enjoy Breakfast” ($38/person) and naturally, served in all-you-can-eat, family-style. Which also includes drinks, such as coffee and juice. Our server told us that they have a special juice that is made with orange, passion fruit and guava. We said we will try the juice. And my goddess, the juice was amazing!!! It was very refreshing, sweet, delectable… I wish if I can have that every morning…

We also got a cup of coffee, which was nice and strong. But I must say, I preferred the juice…

At this point, they started to play some funky music, and the Disney characters and children started to line up and walked around while doing a little dance! Oh my! To be honest, I have never done Character Dining before, so this was super exciting! We were told that each character will come by each table to do a meet-and-greed. What!!! So, at ‘Ohana, they have Lilo, Stitch, matching their Hawaiian theme. And of course, Mickey! Pluto was still too busy signing books for children outside the restaurant… They did this fun walk and dance a few times while we were there, and in between, they will each go around tables (one at a time) to take photos with guests. I got to hug the Mickey in Hawaiian shirt (how adorable is he???), and also we got to take photos with each one of them! We were so happy!!!

Ok, let me get back to the food… They offer American breakfast influenced by Polynesian flavors. First items was seasonal fruits. It was a pretty big size, and all the fruits were super fresh, ripe, and juicy!

Then the main dish. Everything was on this HUGE pan, and they all looked great! Again, it is served family-style, and the selections include scrambled eggs, Island-style fried potatoes, Hawaiian pork sausages, Hawaiian-style ham topped with pineapple compote. Only if you could’ve seen my facial expression when this pot was brought to our table…

The BEST and most fun item in there was the Mickey Waffle!!! I have been waiting to get this baby… I was so happy that they serve it here! They also had a round waffle with Stich on it, super cute! They were soft and chewy in a good way, very comforting.

The Uala Kahiki (Fried Potatoes) were the Island-style Potatoes, seasoned perfectly and super tasty! Hua Paka (Scrambled Eggs) was fresh, hot, not too overcooked nor undercooked, and yes, delicious. The meat offerings were both Pua’a (Pork), Pork Breakfast Sausage Links and Hawaiian-style Ham topped with Pineapple Compote. The sausage was plump, juicy, and tasty. The ham with pineapple was great!!

I sooooo enjoyed each and every item here, and since they were so delicious, we did finished the entire pot. We actually asked for little bit of this and that. To be honest, I wanted to ask for another entire pot filled with goodies, only if I had two or three stomachs… I wish if I could’ve taken the entire pot home with me…

It was hands down, THE BEST dining experience we’ve had at Walk Disney World Resorts. I am glad we saved this for our last day! Because, you know, we will be comparing all the other dining experiences to this one… When we go back to Walt Disney World, we will definitely go back here, for sure! They do offer dinner too, so we will try that next time. Although, Disney Characters join guests for breakfast only… Maybe we will do breakfast AND dinner! So if you are looking for an awesome breakfast with characters, of if you are just looking for a really good breakfast spot, give this place a try!
