Recreational Coffee

I love finding a breakfast spot while traveling. I want a good breakfast, maybe a solid, heavy food to last me all day, or a bit lighter one with some sweets on the side. Either way, I want something tasty! I found this cute and cozy spot, with a pretty Autumn decoration right at the entrance.

Inside was modern and cool, simple and dare I say hip. Clean, open, relaxing and great for those people on the go, or the ones who needs a little “me-time” to get ready for the day. They had a good amount seating for a coffee shop right at front. They also had a few counter seats, and then small tables by the ordering counter, going all the way back.

I liked the simplicity of this place, clean lines, not too many colors or decorations. What did pop out was the donuts! They had several kinds of donuts right on the counter next to the register. They also had some other baked good there, but all I could see was the donuts… They also had some doggie treats, so I assume they are dog friendly?

I ordered iced latte, donut, and a breakfast sandwich. Since the sandwich is made to order (which is great), I got the donut and coffee first. The coffee is also made to order, but it only takes a minute or two.

For the latte, I ordered Iced Latte ($4.50) with their organic almond milk (additional $0.75). It came in a nice, big glass, much bigger than I expected. Totally awesome for the $5.25 price tag. And guess what? They only had environmentally friendly straw! No plastic straws here, sooo cool! The latte was quite tasty, really good espresso and the almond milk was perfect. Yum!

The donuts were not just regular donuts either. They were vegan donuts! I asked the staff which donut was his favorite, and he told me the mint chocolate was really great. So, I went with that since they all looked so good that I couldn’t decide… Vegan Mint Chocolate Donut ($3) was like a cake donut, baked, not fried. Not big but not too small. ..rather, medium size? Just the right size in my opinion, as I wanted it as a “side” item for my main food. Oh yeah, who needs fries or salad with your sandwich when you can have a tasty donut! The mint flavor was quite awesome, tasted like REAL mint, and not “mint flavoring” kind. Not overwhelmingly minty, but subtle. The chocolate and mint flavor worked well together instead of fighting against each other. Really nice mix. The donut was very moist and fresh, dough-y yet fluffy. Winner!

So, the main item, my breakfast sandwich. I ordered Bacon and Egg Sandwich ($7.75), made with thick cut bacon, over easy egg, melted smoked gauda cheese, sriracha ketchup, on a fresh brioche bun.

It was a nice size sandwich, a slightly bigger than I thought it would be. The buns are toasted to the point it was a bit crispy and crunchy but still airy and fluffy. Egg cooked to perfection, allowing egg porn…! Smoked Gouda was awesome, giving the melty texture and a bit of sweetness. The sriracha ketchup had a nice kick to it, which played well against the sweetness of gauga. It had a generous amount of thickly sliced bacon, and I appreciated that the bacons were not over cooked. I enjoyed this sandwich, it was delicious!

They have one uni-sex bathroom all the to the back. It was roomy, clean, bright and well organized.

This was a nice breakfast, chilled and relaxed atmosphere, with friendly and polite staffs. They were nice and welcoming with a warm smile. The breakfast was super filling and all very tasty! I recommended this spot to my co-worker, and he tried out a few days later. He also had a good experience from here, I am glad my recommendation was a hit!
