The French Bakery

I love breakfast and brunch, so while I am traveling, I always look for a nice breakfast/brunch spot. When I was staying in Bellevue WA, I found this nice bakery that serves breakfast every day. It was inside a large glass building, very modern looking. Inside was bright with loads of natural light, with a vibrant yellow glass art piece hanging from the ceiling. I wonder if it is another one of Chihuly glass? I do love his glass installations!

The bakery was on the first floor, easy to find with tables right by the escalator. They did have some real outdoor seating also, through the glass doors.

Right at the entrance, they had two large showcase windows, with lots of delicious looking desserts and pastries. I was very happy to find all the tasty looking items welcoming me!

We got Café Au Lait ($1.90/small), a dessert, and a croissant to start our breakfast. Looking good, right? Their coffee is Italian, a really good cup of coffee!

The dessert of choice was a Slice of Coffee Swiss (around $4), made with chocolate cake and coffee cream, topped with chocolate shavings. It also had candies espresso beans, and dusted with powdered sugar. It was a nice big size, very fluffy with almost whipped, light cream that was so good! Not much of coffee flavor, but it was still a really nice dessert.

They had a few different kinds of croissants, and we chose Twice Baked Chocolate Almond Croissant (around $3). It was good, but nothing too spectacular. I did like how they mixed almond croissant and chocolate croissant into one croissant, get to have the best of both world.

We did get one real dish. They had several savory crepes, and we went with “Paul” ($12.50). It is made with Smoked Sockeye Salmon Mix, Sour Cream, Fresh Chives, and Mozzarella. It was a really big crepe! Came with fresh side salad. The filling was almost like chicken salad or tuna salad, only with salmon. I assumed it was made with smoked salmon, but this version was interesting, and quite tasty!

We enjoyed the breakfast here, so we decided to go back again for another breakfast. This time, we got Marionberry Cream Cheese Croissant ($2.95). It was a-ok. Nice size and flakey, but didn’t have much cream cheese. The marionberry was interesting, but nothing really special.

For dessert, we went with a Slice of Blueberry Cream Cake ($4.25). It is made with Moist Blueberry Cake, Layered with Blueberry Cream & Topped with Blueberry Fruit Filling. It looked dangerous with bright color, but tasted much better than I thought it would be. It had some kind of almost crunchy little thing in the cake, I believe were small blueberry bits. Interesting… It was certainly moist and creamy.

We got a savory crepe again, but this time, we chose Pierre ($11), made with Ham, Mushroom, and Mozzarella Cheese. It was as big as the one we had before, more than enough to share among the two of us. This one was simple, comforting, tasty, and filling.

The bathroom is shared among the building. It is located downstairs, right by the escalator. It need a code to open the bathroom door, so ask for the code from the staff.

The bathroom was large, clean, and well-lit. Always nice to have a clean bathroom nearby.

The staffs were not overly friendly, but polite. The seating was a bit limited, but again, they do have more seating outside too. We liked this little bakery, a nice way to start off the morning!
