Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen #2

We visited Toothsome Chocolate Emporium a few years ago, and we had a really fun time. So, when we had the opportunity to go back to Orlando, we decided to go back for more!

The inside hasn’t changed much, other than few updates in the way they display the items. Still quite strange, colorful, and intriguing.

And the store was still filled with all sorts of tasty, decadent, sweet goodness. I wanted to try them all, but we were there for lunch, an actual real food… So sadly, all I could do was to look at the artful desserts…

But one thing that we could do more than just look was their amazing looking shakes! They have a shake station between the store and restaurant, where you get to see them being created… Yum!

The last time we were here, we sat on the second floor. This time, we got a nice seat on the first floor. It was after the lunch rush hour, and I suspect most everyone is back in Universal or other theme park, so it was not very busy. First floor was very spacious with ceiling going all the way to the roof. And down here, they had a few animals and birds made of shiny metals hiding here and there.

The one item I so extremely enjoyed at our last visit was Tochos ($10.50). I just had to get this again… It is made with fried tater tots, spicy green chili, crispy pork belly, andouille sausage, with cheddar cheese sauce. Our server was quite good, he brought us appetizer plates that were nice and hot! I somehow remembered it bigger in portion, or maybe it was my memory playing tricks on me… It was still a really nice size, regardless. The tater tots were so good, intentionally left a bit “lumpy” so that you get good texture with each bite. Cheesy and with a good amount of pork bits in it. Perfect comfort appetizer!

For main, we ordered May Contain Bacon ($15.50) to share. It is made with half pound housemade patty, bibb lettuce, smokey thick cut bacon, grilled pork belly, pineapple chutney, chipotle Jack cheese, on pretzel bun. When I was trying to cut into the burger in half with regular knife, our waiter came over right away to see if I wanted a serious knife for that. Thanks!

Pretzel bun was awesome, firm yet soft, flavorful. Bacon was thick and meaty. Pineapple chutney added nice sweet flavor to it. Patty was cooked well done, didn’t ask how we wanted it… I wish if it was not so completely cooked. It loses its flavor and juicy-ness in my opinion. But, the pineapple chutney added a bit of juicy-ness to otherwise a bit dry patty. Tomato on the bottom was great too, it also helped with the dry patty.

Then the shake. We had to have a shake from here! And that was the reason why we shared the main dish, leaving enough room for dessert! This time, we chose Confetti Shake ($13), made with vanilla ice cream, confetti cake, vanilla buttercream frosting, rainbow sprinkles and fresh whipped cream. This shake was brought to us by another staff, without a plate or utensil… And let me tell you, you can’t have this shake without them. We had to wait a few minutes to get our server’s attention to get a plate and a spoon.

A real cake slice on top the shake, and not “mini” slice either. Thick frosting with fun confetti, sweet and decadent. Shake was excellent, creamy with velvety, and yes, with loads of whipped cream. Nothing but dream shake here! Sugar high? Check. Not crazy huge size, so perfect for sharing without wasting.

The food and shake was good, but that was not the best part of this visit. The main character of this restaurant, Professor Doctor Penelope came out to greet everyone!!! She was so much fun, and great with recommendation on food and shakes too.

The other character, some kind of robot or automaton??? Also came out to greet some people on the second floor. I didn’t get to meet him up close, but it was still fun to watch him from down the stairs.

Their bathroom is located to the right from entry point to the restaurant, around the corner. They only have three stalls, with one being a large family bathroom with sink in it. Clean but felt a bit small as a whole for a large restaurant like this.

So, at the end, our second visit at Toothsome Chocolate Emporium was really good. But with few minor things here and there, I feel that our first visit was better…but we still enjoyed it tremendously! Our waiter was really nice and welcoming, attentive and polite. The hostess were nice too, they greeted us with a warm smile as soon as we entered the restaurant. I don’t know when we will be back in Orlando again, but when we do, we will be sure to return!
