Trident Booksellers and Café – 2019

We visited this spot for breakfast in 2018, and it was quite fun. So, we decided to go back for more breakfast fun. The last time, we were brought to the back seating area, but this time, we got sit at the front side. It is slightly smaller than the back dining area. Bright with natural light, welcoming atmosphere.

We started our brunch with Viennese Espresso ($4.50). It is espresso and coffee topped with whipped cream and cocoa. It came in a big mug, and it even had some chocolate drizzle on top! Awesome!

For food, I went with Mega Benedict ($15.95). It is made with homemade short rib gravy ladled over jumbo golden fried tater tots, stuffed with gooey cheese. Topped with two poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. Smaller than expected, since it was called the “Mega” Benedict. The eggs actually came on the side, which was ok. It came with three big “tater tots” which to me were more like potato croquet. Soft and potato-y.

Eggs were cooked to perfection, giving me egg porn… Expensive for the portion. The rib gravy had some ribs, not that much, but tender and tasty. Cheese oozing out from inside. It was a nice dish, but the name of the dish really didn’t match what I thought it would be.

My hubby went with Lemon Ricotta Stuffed French Toast ($11.95). It was quite bit! It was dense yet fluffy. Came with loads of blueberries.

Had some cream between the toasts, only around the middle though. Not really “stuffed” French toast… Tasty though.

The service was friendly and fast. We had a nice brunch again, it was tasty, filling, and affordable. I am glad we got to try their food again. We walked around the bookstore after the brunch, and they still have many cute and funny items, it is difficult not to buy everything they have there…
