Wildflower Bread Company @ PHX Airport

I have been on what it felt like a never-ending search for a good, healthy and tasty food at airports. When I traveled to Phoenix, Arizona, I did my usual research to see which place might have decent food. I found this spot, a bit far from my gate, but I was willing to walk 15 -20 min inside the terminal for a good food (and I had plenty of time).

Seems like a popular spot at this airport, I walked by here twice, and both times had a line going. I finally joined the line when I made my final decision to get food from here. The line moved quickly with efficient staffs. They had some seating in the middle, but it was mostly taken.

Most of the people were ordering salad or sandwiches, and they were pre-made and ready to go in the window showcase. I was concerned of how fresh they are, since they were pre-made. But them, I realized that their staffs were actually busy making them in the kitchen right in the back, so they are pretty darn fresh! It helped with the purchasing process, and to move the line along.

They had good amount of sandwich and salad offering, although not too many, but they all sounded and looked delicious. On top of those offerings, they also had some baked goods as well. They are called “Bread Company” after all.

Since I was going to get on a flight home, and I was not getting any food on the plane, I decided to get a scone and a salad. I chose Chocolate Chip Scone ($2.99). Look how cute this is, in a shape of flower!!! It was a good size, bigger than I expected.

It was solid and rich, dense and moist. Lots of chocolate chips everywhere, topped off with granulated sugar for added sweetness. It was nice and flaky without being dry. Very satisfying and delicious!

Then I found a nice surprise in a bag, my salad came with a complimentary bread! It was big and looked really plump. I could tell it was not some cheap piece of bread, but high quality one. How awesome!

And the bread, oh yes, I was right about it being high quality. It doughy yet fluffy, rich and moist, with lots of grains. It was really good piece of bread!

Now, the main dish, my salad. I was in between their Chopped salad or Asian Chicken salad…but then I saw how popular their Chopped salad was, so I naturally went with that one. Wildflower Chopped Salad ($9.99), and it was a really nice, big salad!

It comes with chicken breast, quinoa, arugula, feta, red peppers, dried sweet corn, dried cranberries & toasted sunflower seeds with pesto vinaigrette. It was very fresh and put together beautifully. All the ingredients were lined up next to each other, creating a piece of art.

As I stated to eat away at this beautiful salad, the quality was very noticeably high. Generous amount of each ingredients that was super tasty. I liked the pesto vinaigrette too, it was not too thick, very flavorful without being overwhelming. It didn’t need any additional seasoning, as feta cheese provided salty flavor that went great with the salad. Dried cranberries gave nice sweetness to it, went great with the salty cheese, it compliment each other. Sunflower seeds was a great surprise to this salad, it gave a little nutty flavor, that went perfectly with the pesto sauce.  Lots of texture, flavor and ingredients mixed together in a perfect harmony and became one big delicious family! An awesome salad!!!

I also couldn’t help myself from getting one of their popular cookies… I took it home since I was so completely stuffed with delicious salad and a scone. It was a Chocolate Chip Hazelnut Cookie with Sea Salt ($2.79). It was huge, bigger than my hand. It was soft, moist, again with all the high quality ingredients. Yum!!! I could have this cookie every day and not get board with it…

After trying out their food, I say kudos to wildflowers! Now I know it is possible to eat well at an airport! Everything I had was just amazingly delicious, high quality, healthy… Who says you can’t have it all? This place was my dream come true! Thank you providing an awesome food! All we need now is to have Wildflower Bread Company at each and every airports!
