Agave Sunset

During my visit to Palm Springs area, I stayed at beautiful Hyatt Regency in Indian Wells. We tried one of the restaurants in the hotel, Lantana (you can read about it here: http://www.foodlovergirl.com/lantana/). When we were looking for an early light dinner, we decided to try another restaurant called Agave Sunset. The entrance is located in the beautiful lobby to the left, opposite to Lantana.

The inside was very elegant and classy, more of a lounge than a restaurant. And it should be, as they are “tequila bar and lounge.” It had very relaxing atmosphere, people are starting to unwind from the busy day. It had good amount seats, high tables, bar counter, and plush lounge seats. They had TV monitors throughout the space for sports lovers.

They had some comfortable seats with low tables, as well as plush sofa next to a fireplace. They have live music during Fridays and Saturdays also. The floor to ceiling windows bring in lots of natural light with a great view of golf course. They also have outdoor seating for even more relaxing time if the weather is nice.

We sat at one of the tall tables, and started to look through the menu. A few minutes late, a server came to take our drink orders, and at the same time, told us about their happy hour. We didn’t realize but we made it to their happy hour, and they had happy hour menu! From there, we ordered Chicken al Pastor Quesadilla ($12/happy hour). It came with four tortilla, filled with pulled achiote chicken and oxaca cheese, served with sour cream and tomato salsa.

It was actually much more tasty than I expected. It was meaty, cheesy, and very flavorful. The tortilla was crispy, holding in all the gooey goodness. Sour cream and tomato salsa was great with it, but the quesadilla was flavorful enough on its own too.

We also ordered their Fish Taco ($6/happy hour), made with blackened mahi, avocado, mango jicama slaw, and chipotle aioli on corn tortilla. Served with salsa verde and roasted tomato salsa.

Even though just one taco comes with the order, it was a really nice size. Mountain of ingredients topped on the corn tortilla, it was big enough to share among the two of us, and still get a good flavor of everything. The fish piece was large too, lightly fried, flaky yet juicy. Mango slaw was refreshing, chipotle aioli gave that little kick, and it was overall a very tasty taco. We really enjoyed it!

Then we had one more thing to finish off our light dinner. We ordered Wings 6 for 6. Obviously, we get 6 wings for $6/happy hour. We had a choice of buffalo, Korean or bbq sauce, and we chose Korean sauce. It comes with carrots, celery and ranch dressing. We chose Korean sauce because we wanted something that was both sweet and spicy, and this was just that! It was good, tangy and tasty wings. Hit the spot!

Even though they had enticing cocktail menu, we were not ready for getting our drink on just yet, so we just had food. It was tasty, affordable, and the service was warm and friendly. If you are in the area between 3:30pm – 5:30pm, looking for a happy hour, now you know one more place you can go try.
