Food on Plane: Virgin Atlantic

I did a few blogs about the Food on Plane, first one in 2015 about ANA and JAL, and then JAL in 2017, and again JAL in 2019. Since we haven’t really traveled abroad via plane in the last few years, other than to Japan, my posts were mainly about the Japanese airlines, on the way to/from Japan. This year, we traveled to England, and we flew on Delta. The flight to England was operated by Virgin Atlantic, and here are the food and beverage that we consumed on the way.

It was my first time flying on Virgin Atlantic, so I was very curious. First, we got a nice greeting from the Virgin Atlantic Crew inside the menu. I thought it was informative, and a nice little touch to welcome the passengers.

The flight attendants came around, asking us if we wanted red or white wine, and we both went with white wine. The wine was Casa Piñero Airén, Sauvignon Blanc. It is a simple, smooth, not-complicated wine. A nice wine for flying. The snack was a bag of baked pretzels.

Since it was not a long flight, we only had one meal during the flight. They had three meal to choose from; Chicken Curry, BBQ Pulled Pork, and Gnocchi. We both chose Malvani Chicken Curry. It is made with spicy coconut cream and tomato sauce, rice, and spinach dal.

The curry tasted better than I expected. A good amount of chicken pieces, with a nice little kick to it. Spinach dal was creamy and tasty too. I think this items was popular, as the cabin was getting filled the aroma of curry…

I liked that it came with cheese and cracker. Those cheese were yummy… I hear that our taste buds kind of go a bit numb up in the air, so having something with strong flavor is always a plus to me. The dessert was a fun Churros Bar. It looked kind of like a thin coffee cake square, and was tasty!

Before landed, flight attendants came around to give us Love Hearts. What a cute and lovely way to send off their passengers!

The flight attendants were very nice, friendly, and polite. We had a nice short flight. The food on plane was good, and wine was smooth. I heard the red wine that they serve on the plane is more popular though. If I get to fly with Virgin Atlantic again, I will try the red wine next…
