Original Pancake House #2

We first visited this spot a couple of months ago, and we loved it so much that we went back few more times. We got their Hawaiian Kona Coffee Medium Roast ($2.75), and they came in nice blue mugs. We talk about buying their mugs every time we see them… When we (finally) decide which colors we want, we will buy a couple…and it will be for a good cause, since the proceed goes to St. Jude’s.

Corned Beef Hash N’ Eggs ($9.79), made with homemade hash, ground fresh daily, with bits of potatoes, onions, and cream. Topped with two eggs any style. It is served with Balthazar multi-grain toast, or you could substitute with few other options. I went with mini silver dollar pancakes, since we wanted to taste their popular pancakes.

I got my eggs over-easy, and they came out exactly the way I wanted..yes, egg porn baby!. The hash was more crumbly than I expected, but packed with flavor. Don’t need anything else, since it had strong flavor. But, I did enjoy it with just a bit of ketchup, and a bit of Tabasco as well. Great either way.

Silver Dollar Pancakes were so fluffy and tasty! No wonder it is one of the most popular item. They look just simple and plain, but there was nothing simple nor plain about them! We enjoyed them very much.

My hubby when with another OPH staple, German Apple Pancake ($10.50), made with fresh cream and eggs, baked in the oven with fresh granny smith apples and pure Sinkiang cinnamon glaze. It came piping hot with great flavor. It was like having an awesome apple pie and Dutch baby all in one, it had tons of perfectly slices of apples. Cinnamon was not overwhelming, sweet but not too sweet, the best! The texture under the apples was like firm custard pudding. And this baby stayed really hot for a long time, which was nice. Simply delicious! It was Dense and crazy filling, it will be a challenge for one person eat the whole thing, unless he/she was super hungry…

Our server, Vanessa, was very friendly and polite, nice service with a great smile! We enjoyed our over-filling brunch, once again. So, naturally, we went back for more…

This time, we got Organic Chilli Benedict ($12), made with their spicy and healthy turkey chilli on an English muffin, topped with poached eggs and cheddar cheese.

Chilli had a good kick to it, nice and spicy! It was spicier than I thought it would be, but we really enjoyed it. Home fries are comfy and potato-y. And the eggs? They never disappoint…perfection each time! With the amount of homefries, it was heavy and very filling.

My hubby really liked the mini silver dollar pancake from last visit. So, this time, he decided to go with their best seller, Buttermilk Pancakes. ($7.99). They are hand-mixed each morning, and they haven’t changed this recipe since 1953. Awesome! They were super fluffy and oh yes, tasty! Just the right amount of sweetness. Simplicity at its best…

Our server, Cristina, was really great, she took care of us with warm service. I am glad to see this restaurant with crazy popularity able to keep such great staffs. Each time we visited, we had really nice servers. Oh yes, we will return again soon…!
