Sang’s Kitchen

Since we visited H Mart in Paramus to have lunch at Big Bowls Little Plates inside H Mart in the spring of 2019, we went back many times to shop, and to eat at their Market Eatery Food Hall. They have several eateries there, including OnDubu who offers traditional Korean dishes. Right before the shutdown, we got to try some dishes from Sang’s Kitchen.

Sang’s Kitchen offers traditional Korean dishes, similar to OnDubu. We went to the H Mart early to shop, and went over to the Market Eatery Food Hall when they were just opening at 11am. We wanted to order their BBQ dishes, but we were told that BBQ items are not available until 12 noon… They didn’t have that indicated anywhere, so we were disappointed.

Instead, we ordered Spicy Pork over Rice set ($11.99), and Spicy Chicken with Cheese set ($16.99). It came with miso soup, salad, and some banchans.

Spicy pork had real kick to it, bit spicier than expected. But the customers here are mainly Koreans, so it makes sense that they have the level of spiciness set to what they are used to, which was nice. The meat was tender and juicy, with lots of veggies. It was filling for sure!

The banchans offered by Sang’s Kitchen are very basic, but very fresh and yes, had good kick to it.

The Spicy Chicken with Cheese was something that I saw the photos of, and got me very curious! It also came with miso soup. side salad, some banchans, and also, side of white rice.

It came sizzling, steaming, and super hot! I love the sound of the sizzle from fast iron plate… And even thought this dish was a bit pricier than most others, but you do get crazy portion!

The chicken was not as spicy as expected. It had loads of veggies with the chicken. Carrots were still very firm, I prefer them to be a bit softer… The cheese was oh-so-cheesy! Huge portion, enough to share among two people.

Overall, we were happy with the lunch. Great portion, affordable, and tasty. The staff was not very friendly, but seemed efficient. I can NOT wait for all the food courts inside Asian supermarkets to re-open, so I can go back for more tasty Asian food! Yes, you can order food to go from some eateries, but I like having a freshly made/cooked food right there… So, until we are all safe and back to normal life, I will be dreaming about all the great Asian food from these types of Asian supermarkets!
