The Talk Restaurant

This is a new Italian Restaurant that opened just this summer. It seems like they are getting good reviews from the locals. So, we went to check it out. I heard that the owners have other eateries in the area, Talk of the Town and Betsy’s. They also have another location of The Talk Restaurant in Watertown Square as well.

We arrived before the dinner rush, so it was still nice and quiet. But, it was mostly full about the time we left. The interior was simple, elegant, yet relaxing and inviting. They had a fully stocked bar to the right, with handful of tables across the bar. They have another room in the back with more tables.

I liked the modern and funky décor here. Large, vibrant mural is the first thing you see when you enter the restaurant, inviting you to a fun time with your friends and family. The chandeliers were made with silverware, such as knife, fork and spoon. How cool!

As soon as we settled at our table, a staff brought some complimentary bread with dipping oil. The bread was so soft and moist. The dipping oil was very flavorful, it was cheesy with a little kick to it with chili pepper flakes.

We started off with cocktails. I love having dessert first, to make sure I have room for the dessert… But some other times, I love having dessert cocktails first. Why not sweeten your dinner with sweet drink??? I went with Godiva Black and White ($12.95). It is made with Stoli Vanilla, Godiva White Chocolate Liquor, and Godiva Dark Chocolate. It sounded so great that my hubby also ordered one. He gets jealous of my orders quite often… The cocktail was sweet, almost creamy, and definitely chocolatey! Very nice dessert cocktail for Godiva and chocolate lovers.

My hubby was craving some good ole’ New England Clam Chowder ($4.95), especially since it said “Cape Cod Life” Award Winning on the menu. It was creamy, with a good amount of plump clams. I would say it was not the best clam chowder I’ve ever had (check out the Harbour Public House), but it was flavorful. I enjoyed the fresh pepper flavor.

Since there were four of us, we decided to get a couple of appetizers to share. First one was something I had a cravings for, well, as soon as I heard it, I developed the cravings… It was one of the Today’s Special items, Meatballs! The Meatballs ($12.95) come three per order, in a bed of Marinara, topped with Pecorino Romano. The meatballs were large in size, bathing in marinara. They were meaty, soft, juicy, and plump. Packed with flavor! Great marinara sauce, and quite filling.

The second appetizer was also from Today’s Special item, Pan Seared Sea Scallop ($14.95). This one also comes in three per order, cooked in Garlic White Wine, topped with Arugula and Roasted Red Peppers.

Those three diver scallops were large, fresh, and plump. The nice sauce was very nice and flavorful, and the arugula was super fresh. Very tasty!

And it was time for second drink. This time, I went with French Kiss ($12.95), made with Vodka, Chambourd, and Pineapple Juice. It was very fruity, and had beautiful color. Different kind of sweet from the Godiva cocktail, more like syrup. My hubby went with Espresso Martini ($13.95), made with Stoli Vanilla, Kahlua, Baileys Irish Cream, and Fresh Espresso. It was sweet, a bit similar to the Godiva cocktails without the chocolate. It had great coffee flavor without being overwhelming.

Now, the main dishes. My hubby chose Sausage Cacciatore ($26.95). Sweet Italian Sausage cooked with sautéed onion, pepper, mushroom, and fresh potato gnocchi, in their house tomato basil sauce. It was nice big portion, and the gnocchi was really good, plump and soft, well made! Generous amount of sliced sausages, and the sauce was very flavorful. Crazy filling!

I went with Salmon Florentine ($27.95) Pan Seared Salmon Fillet, served on a bed of Wilted Baby Spinach and made-to-order Sundried Tomato Basil Cream Sauce, served with Rice Pilaf. It didn’t look that big in portion compared to other dishes, but it was still filling.

The salmon was so good, and I really enjoyed the creamy sauce. Not too much seasoning, perfect amount of salt on the salmon. It felt light yet satisfying. The edges of the fillet were crunchy which I also enjoyed. The salmon was cooked all the way, I wasn’t given any option on how I wanted it cooked… I would prefer my salmon to be not cooked all the way. But, it was still delicious. The spinach was tasty and pilaf was cooked just right. Overall, really nice dish!

The other two ordered Veal Roma ($24.95) and Lemon Chicken ($21.95). Veal Roma comes with veal medallions sautéed with roasted red peppers tossed with ziti in a tomato basil sauce. Topped with mozzarella cheese. We heard it was really good. Lemon Chicken comes with chicken medallions dipped in an egg battered and sautéed in a lemon butter garlic sauce, served with mashed potatoes. We heard this one was delicious, pounded nice and thin. Veal was really good too.

Bathroom is located all the way back to the right. They have one bathroom for men and another one for women. I liked the cute sign. Now, do you notice the light switch right under the signs? That is the light switch for the bathrooms. I didn’t notice it at first, went crazy looking for a light switch in a dark bathroom… It is unusual to have a light switch outside of the intended room, right???

The bathroom was nice and roomy, clean and well-lit. They had a chair for your purse or what not.

Our server, Danielle, was really nice and sweet. She was polite and took a great care of us. She kept her eye on the progress of the food at our table (how fast/slow were eating) so that they won’t bring out the food too early. It took a little longer for the food come out, but that gave us enough time to digest the what we were eating, so that was good for us. The food was tasty, and nice portion too. We were soooo full that we didn’t have any room for dessert. A great new Italian restaurant, I would definitely want to go back for more tasty dishes!
