Kudo Society Cafe – Teaneck

Ever since we first visited Kudo Society Cafe in Palisades Park, NJ, we became instant fans of their food! When we heard that they opened another location in Teaneck, NJ, we decided to see how they are like. At our first visit in early May, we were greeted by one of those fun inflatable air dancers in front, those guys always make me laugh!

It is located at a corner lot, and they had a nice outdoor seating around the corner. It is not a huge space, but enough for a cafe in my opinion. They only have one or two parking spot, specifically for pickup orders. But, they have a nice size municipal parking right across the street.

They have the ordering counter at the entrance, and this area is not very big… It gets crowded easily with the people ordering, waiting to order, and waiting to pick up their food/drinks. Also, it makes it a bit difficult to go over to the show window case to check out the desserts if there is a line of people formed in front of the register.

But I do recommend you to make the effort to get to the dessert section. They all look sooo good! They had everything from cake, tart, cookies, muffins, roll cakes, etc., etc…

From what I remember from the original Kudo Society Cafe location, this location has a whole lot more dessert options, which is great!

They have a good amount of indoor seating, especially for a cafe. There was nice space between each table, and a cute little spot with benches by the other exit door that leads into the outdoor seating area.

We were there for a brunch, so we got some real food before desserts. We ended up ordering our favorite items from the other Kudo Society Cafe, Kudo Burrito ($12.95) and BBQ Pulled Pork Kimchi Rice Bowl ($12.95). We had these a few times at the original Kudo Society Cafe, and we just love them!

Kudo Burrito ($12.95) is made with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, cheddar cheese, onions, and green pepper. It seemed a bit smaller than we remembered… But, it sure was as tasty as we remembered! It came out piping hot, meaty and cheesy. Pretty darn good.

BBQ Pulled Pork Kimchi Rice Bowl ($12.95) comes with Pulled Pork, Rice Lettuce, Kimchi, Cheese, and Homemade Spicy Dressing. I must say, this is my favorite dish from Kudo Society Cafe, although I haven’t really tried that many dishes… But you know, when you find a favorite, you just stick with it!

The size of this bowl was the same as I remembered, generous and large! It can fill you up, so you can share some with someone else, which would be nice to have an extra room left in your stomach for some desserts… This bowl did not have much rice on the bottom, but loads of other ingredients. The special sauce on the top makes the flavor extra tasty. It is still my favorite at both Kudo Society Cafe Locations!

After the food, we got some desserts and lattes. We were interested in their roll cakes, so we got a slice of Ube Taro Roll Cake ($5.50), a slice of Strawberry Nutella Roll Cake ($5.50), Mocha Latte ($5.25), and Matcha (Green Tea) Latte ($5). Matcha Latte was made unsweetened by my request, so it had just a hint or sweetness from the milk. I could taste the real matcha, a bit grainy but I kind of liked that. Mocha Latte was awesome! Pretty good size too. Much sweeter, but tasted great. It was nice and creamy.

Strawberry Nutella Roll Cake had strawberry jam. I expected it to have some strawberry cream filling, so it was a bit disappointing. It didn’t have strong Nutella flavor, other than the Nutella drizzle on top. It was more like sponge cake with strawberry jam.

Ube Taro Roll Cake was moist and fluffy, and it had a really good flavor of ube taro. I really enjoyed this one!

About a month later, we went back to Kudo Society Cafe after a quick brunch somewhere else, for coffee and desserts. This time, we got Strawberry Cream Cake ($6.95), Mango Passion Cake ($6.95), Melon Bar Bubble Tea ($5.95), and Lavender Oat Latte ($6.75).

The Lavender Oat Latte is made with Lavender flavoring and Oat Milk. It had a really strong lavender and coffee bean flavor, a bit too strong, that created strange after taste… Not my kind of latte… The Melon Bar is made with Cantaloupe and Honeydew flavors, and had an option of regular ice and slush (frozen). I went with regular ice. It had an adorable koala bear on the lid, super cute! The drink itself was good, nice melon flavor, with a good amount of boba. I enjoyed this one!

The Strawberry Cream Cake ($6.95) was really nice, tasted similar to Japanese Strawberry Shortcake, but with the strawberry cream in the middle. The strawberries were nice and ripe, sweet and tasty! The sponge cake was light and airy, elegantly sweet. Nice piece of cake!

Mango Passion Cake ($6.95) was good too. Ripe and sweet mango pieces, went great with the sponge cake and the cream. Even though it might look decadent, the sponge cake and cream are not heavy, so it is a nice light dessert.

They have two gender-neutral bathrooms by the back exit to the outdoor seating area.

The bathroom was nice and big, with super bright flower mural on the wall. If Charmin (toilet paper) people were here, they would say it is a place where you can truly “enjoy the go” as the flowers make you smile. LOL. It was clean, well lit, and having the little chair in the corner can help you with your purse or whatever you might be carrying.

We had two nice visits so far. The staffs are nice and efficient. Some drinks takes longer than some others to make, as they are all made to order. The quality of the food is the same as the original Kudo Society Cafe, which I am happy about. The desserts are nice, and reasonably priced. I am sure we will return for quick brunch or dessert again soon.
