Pickle Jar Kitchen #3

We have been a fan of Pickle Jar Kitchen since we first visited in 2015. Even though we like to explore new spots, we have gone back a few times, the last time was in 2019, before the Pandemic. Now that we are trying to get to the normal life even just a little bit, we went back to one of our favorite spots in Cape Cod to see how they are doing. This time, they had outdoor seating available, and I am not sure if they always had that, or it is an addition they created since the Pandemic? It was a beautiful day, so we decided to sit outside. It was a beautiful space, with a large tree in the middle, providing much needed shade in the space.

Under the gorgeous tree, we were feeling fancy…so we got some fancy drinks to go with our lunch! Now, I don’t remember exactly what kind of Mimosa I ordered…I know, I know. I need to do a better job at taking notes! I believe I ordered Raspberry Lemon Mimosa ($9). It is made with Prosecco, Fresh Raspberries, and a splash of house made Lemonade. It was not as sweet as I wanted it to be, and not as fruity… But, it sure was very refreshing.

My hubby went with Ginger Pear Cocktail ($9), made with Ginger Liquor, Absolute Pear, and Ginger Ale. It had a candied ginger on top. This drink had a nice sweetness from the pear, and refreshing flavor from ginger. It was really tasty!

For food, we ordered Open Faced BBQ Boneless Pork ($17) and PJK Muffeletta ($15). I was excited about the Open Face one, it sounded so good on the menu… The Open Faced BBQ Boneless Pork ($17) is made with BBQ Boneless Pork served atop a Toasted Cheddar Scallion Scone with a Side Salad, Pickled Red Onions, Whole Grain Mustard Vinaigrette, Smokey Cheddar and BBQ Sauce. I told you it sounds great!

It was very meaty, and the BBQ pork was tender and juicy. The cheddar scallion scone was great! This dish was packed with flavor! I also loved the mustard vinaigrette, it was super tasty! The portion was nice too, very filling and satisfying.

The salad was super fresh, and you can’t leave Pickle Jar Kitchen without tasting their pickles! They know how to make great pickles here. The acidity from the pickles cut down on the sweet BBQ flavor, making this dish to have a nicely balanced flavor.

The PJK Muffeletta was listed under the Lunch Special of the day. It is made with Mushroom Olive Tapenade, Spicy Red Pepper Feta Spread, Mortadella, Genoa Salami, Spicy Capicola, Ham, Green, Tomatoes, and a Red Wine Vinaigrette on Toasted Sourdough. It was HUGE! Generous amount of quality meats, amazing! It had some kick to it with every bite, which I liked. The bread was toasted perfectly, with crunchy edge, but not too hard. With all the ingredients, it was like a symphony of flavor, all coming together to play a wonderful music. Love the olive tapenade and pickles, they certainly brought out the fresh flavor of the cold cuts. Wow!

Since we enjoyed every bite of our lunch, we decided to go for some desserts! We were feeling more towards cupcake, so we ordered Coconut Cupcake with Cream Cheese Icing ($5), and Double Chocolate Cupcake with Buttercream Frosting ($5). They are made in-house, so you know they are going to be good! We also ordered Coffee ($3) with milk on the side to go with our desserts.

The coffee was good, not too strong, but mild and smooth. We like our coffee with no sugar, but with lots of milk, so that also made it extra mild. Great with sweet cupcakes!

Coconut Cupcake with Cream Cheese Icing had a simple vanilla cupcake bottom with quality you can taste. The frosting was amazing, with lots of coconut shavings! It was really delicious!

Double Chocolate Cupcake with Buttercream Frosting had chunks of chocolate chips! It was super moist, decadent, and tasty! Perfect for chocolate lover for sure.

We had yet another successful and tasty visit at Pickle Jar Kitchen! Our server was really nice and friendly, welcoming and helpful. We will continue to go back to this spot again and again when we are back in Cape Cod. If you are looking for a delicious spot in Cape Cod, give this place a try!
